Development and Evaluation of Direct Paddy Seeder in Puddled Field

Manual transplanting, a pre-dominant practice in almost all the paddy growing areas India, is laborious, burdensome, and has many expenses on raising, settling, transplanting nursery. The process’s limitations motivated replacement of conventional methods. study was divided into two phases. first phase included laboratory testing three levels metering mechanisms, namely cell type (M1) with 10 cells grooved around circular plate having 13 cm diameter, inclined (M2) containing 24 U shaped provided an 18 diameter plate, fluted roller (M3) flutes 5 shaft. matrix missing index, multiple seed damage forward speeds (2.5, 3.0, 3.5 km/h), pre-germination h soaked (P1), pre-germinated (P2), 36 seeds (P3)). second selecting best combination obtained from developing new efficient planter for puddled field. mechanism operating at 2.5 km/h reported most phase. Therefore, self-propelled 8-row equipped row-to-row spacing 22.5 developed, fabricated, evaluated designed assessed different soils: sandy loom (ST1) clay (ST2) hopper fill as ½ filled (F1) ¾ (F2). number plants per square meter hill-to-hill measured. on-field evaluation revealed that non-significantly affected by soil but significantly fill.
